A total of 32 matches were played during the 1966 FIFA World Cup™ finals in England. The tournament provided some epic games including Portugal's incredible 5-3 quarter-final victory against North Korea and England's memorable 4-2 triumph against West Germany in the final.

 

The 1970 FIFA World Cup™ in Mexico

A total of 32 matches were played during the 1970 FIFA World Cup finals in Mexico. The tournament provided some memorable moments including; Banks's (ENG) miraculous save from Pele's (BRA) textbook header, Pele's (BRA) shot from the halfway line against Czechoslovakia and his dummy around the keeper against Uruguay.

 

The 1974 FIFA World Cup™ in Germany

A total of 38 matches were played during the 1974 FIFA World Cup™ finals in West Germany. Runners-up Holland won many fans with their brand of ‘Total Football' and their captain gave birth to the legendary Cruyff turn. Hosts West Germany won the tournament with captain Beckenbauer (GER) instrumental in their success.

 

The 1978 FIFA World Cup™ in Argentina

A total of 38 matches were played during the 1978 FIFA World Cup™ finals in Argentina. The tournament provided an array of wonderful goals including Hann's (NED) long-range goal against Italy and Gemmill's (SCO) memorable solo goal against Holland. Kempes (ARG) finished top scorer guiding Argentina to their first ever FIFA World Cup™ triumph.

 

The 1982 FIFA World Cup™ in Spain

A total of 52 matches were played during the 1982 FIFA World Cup™ finals in Spain. The tournament provided some epic games including West Germany's semi-final defeat of France and Italy's memorable 3-2 victory against Brazil. Rossi (ITA) finished top-scorer guiding Italy to their third FIFA World Cup™ triumph.

 

The 1986 FIFA World Cup™ in Mexico

A total of 52 games were played during the 1986 FIFA World Cup™ finals in Mexico. The tournament was dominated by Maradona (ARG) who virtually single-handedly won Argentina the FIFA World Cup™. His infamous Hand of God goal was followed by perhaps the greatest the FIFA World Cup has ever seen in Argentina's quarter-final victory against England.

 

The 1990 FIFA World Cup™ in Italy

A total of 52 games were played during the 1990 FIFA World Cup™ finals in Italy. Cameroon and their experienced striker Milla (CAM) ignited the tournament with their shock victory against Argentina before finally bowing out in the quarter-finals against England. Matthaus (GER) led by example for the eventual winners West Germany; guiding his country to their third FIFA World Cup™ triumph.

 

The 1994 FIFA World Cup™ in USA

A total of 52 games were played during the 1994 FIFA World Cup™ finals in the USA. The tournament provided us with memorable goals from Hagi (ROM) Owairan (KSA) and Klinsmann (GER). One of the most enduring images occurred when Baggio (ITA), Italy's hero in the previous rounds, handed the trophy to Brazil in the final following his missed penalty in the shoot-out.

 

The 1998 FIFA World Cup™ in France

A total of 64 matches were played during the 1998 FIFA World Cup™ finals in France. The tournament provided us with two of the greatest goals in FIFA World Cup™ history; from Owen (ENG) and Bergkamp (NED). Hosts France shocked the favourites Brazil in the final with talisman Zidane (FRA) scoring twice in a famous 3-0 victory.

 

The 2002 FIFA World Cup™ in Korea/Japan

A total of 64 matches were played during the 2002 FIFA World Cup™ finals in Korea/Japan. Senegal produced the best performance by an African nation since 1990 and South Korea secured shock victories against Portugal, Italy and Spain on their way to the semi-finals. Ronaldo (BRA) finished top scorer guiding Brazil to their fifth World Cup™ triumph.
